We had a brutal chapter 2 of Mice and Mystics. It came down to the last few moves but we finally rescued Lilly. I played my best game of 7 Wonders but still only came in 2nd place.
PitchCar took up most of the time of the evening but each game was awesome. Well designed tracks but some of the best trick shots I've seen.
Another Saturday full of amazing board games. We started out in a 5-person game of Small World.
It's been a while since we busted out Memoir 44. This time we had two games going at once of the same map. Each game turned out differently too! I hope to play it again soon.
Then we ran through chapter 1 again of Mice and Mystics. We were successful in getting through the chapter and next week we'll be stating where we left off. I can't wait!
We also played a card game called The Resistance where you're a team and there's a number of spies based on the total number of players and naturally you don't know who's the spy and who is part of the team. It's all about acting and I gotta say 2 out of the 3 rounds I was a spy we won! Such a good and yet stressful game of deception.
So I'm a big fan of the boardgame geek community. It's a huge database of all boardgames past and present. They also have a great community and their forums can answer just about any question you may have in regards to playing a game. I've also gotten a lot of tips for organizing the game components. Check out their site!
I got to play Small World for the first time this weekend. I knew about it for a while now and watched some videos of it online but never actually got to sit down and play a game of it. Let's just say it's all what it's cracked up to be. The best mechanic of the game is the random races and abilities so no two games are alike. This was an instant buy :)
Well I finished Nez today from Mice and Mystics. First time using my own paints and brushes. I think he turned out pretty well. I think painting a miniature can be an uphill battle. When you start off it looks extremely ugly and you have no idea how it's going to turn out. As you continue to add more color to the miniature, it all starts to come together. See for yourself!
Hung out with some friends and they taught me how to prime and paint miniatures. I felt I did pretty damn good for my first attempt. This might become a new obsession of mine.
We started off playing 7 wonders with a total of 7 people. It's a simple game with a lot of strategy. If you slack on any area you'll pay for it in the end. Then we played Revolution and I ended up in last place! Still a fun game of anticipating other people's moves.
Finally we finished up with Chapter 1 of Mice and Mystics. Everyone had a blast. Collin, Nez, Tilda, and Filch made our way through the sewers, saved Miss Maggie, defeated Brodie the cat, and narrowly escaped the Old Crow to finish safely in a knot hole of the old oak tree. What a night! I already heard request for chapter 2.
Chapter 1 - Played Mice and Mystics for the first time, in public of all places, and it was awesome. Extremely fun moving the pieces around and attacking the minians. Now all I have to do is paint them.
Sad news is, we didn't complete the chapter :( Maybe next time.
