My flight was booked last month and now I just finished booking my hostels. I'll be staying at The Green Tortoise right next to Pikes Place Market in Seattle and Cambie Hostel in Gastown Vancouver. Both appear to be in pretty hip parts of town.
While in Seattle I'll take a day trip out to the north side of Mt Rainier to hike around for the day. This trip will cover an 11 day time span. This will be a loose travel experience. I'll have some days planned out with 'must see' things like a Mariners game, the Seattle Aquarium, a brewery tour in Vancouver, among others. Outside of those times I'll be wondering the city checking out the sights and sounds of the Pacific Northwest. With just a few months away, I'm already getting excited for the trip.
Caught a live show last night at the small but intimate venue at Strange Loop Records. The High Definitions played and put on a great show for the crowd of 20-or-so people. While there I picked up a used U2 and The Police album. Sean, one of the owners, said they do live gigs every other weekend. I'll definitely be back.
I walked to a new brew pub that just opened up down the road called Zauber Brewing Company. I'm thrilled because I was told these guys brew traditional German beers. Something that our local microbreweries don't usually do. I tried their Vertigo - Hefeweizen, Magnum - Belgian, and Myopic - German Red. All were delicious, especially the Hefeweizen which I hope they have available for summer.
It appears they'll be having food trucks parked right outside so bringing in food is not a problem. Needless to say I'll be venturing back soon! Prost!
A group of friends dressed up and got together for dinner at Spagio's. Then went to a retro hip hop dance party at Stonewater. It was a pretty amazing night. We took some prom inspired pictures. Later in the night fireworks were let off and you could see them through the skylights.
