Made it to the Crew game again. This time tail gated a bit and then watch them play the New York Red Bulls. So much fun!
It's back! Joe the head fryer sent out invites to Hot Chicken Takeover and the group jumped on it. Just like last time you pick an hour block when you'll be picking up your chicken and we chose the 1-2pm slot. Joe makes an appearance out front to meet people in between batches of delicious hot (spicy) chicken. Shake his hand, ask him a few questions, he's really nice.
Well let's get on with it and show you the pictures. Another stellar event and I already can't wait for the next one. Sign up here to know when they're having their next take over.
First night pub crawl
Second night pub crawl
After Dublin I'm headed off to Glendalough region south of Dublin. This will be a 2 day get-away from the major city to a Bed and Breakfast and hiking in the surrounding area. Visiting some of the natural beauty Ireland has to offer.
I'll then train across to Galway for 2 days to visit the west coast of Ireland and their hip, bohemian city. I've read up that Galway is a small city with a big heart. Tons of live music going on nightly and an energy that reverberates throughout. I'm excited to see what I'll find while there.
To end the trip I'll be heading down south from Galway along the west coast to a small town called Lisdoonvarna which is a quick bus ride to the Cliffs of Moher. However, Lisdoonvarna is famous for it's 160 year old Matchmaking festival they hold each year for the month of September. It's a way for the remote farmers to get together and dance for a week and maybe find their match. The festival is held in the tiny town that has just 1 intersection. It's going to be interesting to see a how the town can handle the influx of people. After all is said and done I'll then train back to Dublin for one last night and then fly out the next morning. 10 days... a short amount of time but I've somehow packed in a lot of things to see. As Tim Heidecker says...
Here are some things I've been up to in the past week.
I made an apple pie
Destroyed the high score board in Burger Time
Enjoyed some delicious tacos
Partook in record store day 2014
Ate at my favorite restaurant
Watched a Crew game from the Nordecke.
Needless to say I'm exhausted. Time for a nap.
The group went to the Near Eastside Coop to get a taste of a popup hot chicken event. Damn was it good. SOOO SPICY!
I went to see the documentary Maidentrip about a 15 year old Dutch girl's solo sailing trip around the globe. She wasn't accompanied by any teams to check up on her and only had help at her stops patching up her boat. It's really an amazing voyage for someone so young to do. She really grows a lot and embraces being alone on the boat for so long. The life lessons and self reflecting she does at the end of the trip is very inspiring.
You can find out more about her trip here.
